Former president George H.W. Bush surprised fans at Minute Maid Park in Houston yesterday prior to the Astros game.

Bush 41, a Houston resident and a longtime baseball fan, threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Astros took on the defending World Series champions, the Kansas City Royals.

From his wheelchair, the 91-year-old fired a left-handed strike to Astros pitcher Collin McHugh, who was standing just a few feet away.

In July 2015, Bush slipped at his home and broke a vertebra in his neck. But he didn't let that stop him from throwing out the first pitch at an Astros playoff game last year and again yesterday.

The Astros fell to the Royals 3-2.
