Following the tragic murder of retired NFL star Will Smith, his former coach, Sean Payton, is speaking out.

In an interview with USA Today, the New Orleans Saints head coach had some strong words about gun violence in the U.S.

"I’m not an extreme liberal," Payton said. "I find myself leaning to the right on some issues. But on this issue, I can’t wrap my brain around it."

Payton said he isn’t merely calling for tighter gun control laws. If he had his way, he said, we’d live in a country without firearms.

"I hate guns," Payton stated.

"I’ve heard people argue that everybody needs a gun," he said. "That’s madness. I know there are many kids who grow up in a hunting environment. I get that. But there are places, like England, where even the cops don’t have guns."

Let us know what you think about Payton's strong anti-gun stance in the comments.
