'Don't Ever Worry, I Have Your 6': Boy Hands Officer Touching Note

Meet Elena Griffing, the longest-tenured employee at Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, California.

The 90-year-old just celebrated her 70th year working at the hospital, and she has no plans to retire anytime soon.

"I can't wait to come to work every day, this is my hospital," she said. "I enjoy anything I can do to be of service. Truly, it's the patient that counts. If it's helping someone, it's my bag."

As amazing as Griffing's longevity is, it's equally impressive that over seven decades, she's only taken four sick days.

Her first day on the job was April 10, 1946, when she was 20.

Over the years, she's worked in many roles at the center - with an endocrinologist, in the burn center and currently in patient relations.

"I don't feel any differently than I did when I was 20. I am truly so lucky," Griffing said.

She added that if she has her way, she'll keep working "until they throw me out or they carry me out in a box."
