GOOD NEWS Neighbors Give WWII Veteran With No Next of Kin a Hero's Sendoff
World War II veteran Andrew Moore died without a will or a family to bury him, so his neighbors decided to give him the hero's sendoff that he deserved.
On "Fox and Friends" this morning, Ainsley Earhardt spoke to those two neighbors, Bill Shepherd and Nick Addams, about why they decided to step up.
Shepherd said that he and Addams lived in the same apartment building as Moore. They had known him for a number of years before he passed away this past December.
"We looked at each other and just said, 'Do the right thing.' And what is it? It's proper burial," Shepherd said, adding that they found after a little research that Moore qualified for a burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
Addams said that he used to work at Arlington, so he's seen many funeral processions, but he's never been in one before.
"The meticulousness of the Honor Guard and the bugler playing "Taps" ... and the seven-gun, 21-gun salute, it was just overpowering," Addams said.
