Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is similar to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in that "he’s both a buffoon and he’s dangerous," Arianna Huffington said on Sunday.

Speaking to Brian Stelter on CNN's "Reliable Sources," Huffington said that's why the Huffington Post initially announced that they would cover Trump's presidential campaign in the entertainment section of their website.

After Trump declared in December that he would like to ban Muslims from entering the U.S., however, Huffington said they decided that the billionaire businessman was a "clear and present danger," so they moved their coverage of him to their politics section.

She said that's also why they include an editor's note at the bottom of posts about Trump, which reads, "Note to our readers: Donald Trump is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, birther and bully who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims -- 1.6 billion members of an entire religion -- from entering the U.S."

Huffington called out the media for not taking a critical enough approach to reporting on Trump, asserting that he has the "potential to destroy this country."

"The media need to wake up and start covering him like that."
