Iowa State Football Players Rescue Young Woman from Sinking Car

Many of us were touched by a heartwarming video from New Jersey that showed a police sergeant signing off for the very last time.

The clip depicts Sgt. Douglas Hogate Sr. being sent off by his dispatcher son, Douglas Jr., in an emotional retirement announcement.

It's since amassed more than 1.3 million views online, something Douglas Sr. said he never would’ve imagined when all he wanted was “to document my last day on the road.”

“I never dreamed that it would grow this big,” he told Anna Kooiman. “Having my son acknowledge me, that was really the best part about it.”

Asked whether his father’s public service influenced his own decision to become a dispatcher, Douglas Jr. said “it’s been more than just the fact that he served 28 years of being a law enforcement officer.”

“He’s literally raised me and my brother and my sister as a single parent, and he put everything aside throughout his entire life to take care of us,” he said.

“Obviously, I want to follow in his footsteps, because just like I said in the message – the greatest man I know.”
