The University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team has made the Final Four for a ninth consecutive season – but not everyone’s on board with the Huskies.

Boston Globe sports columnist Dan Shaughnessy is drawing criticism after he suggested UConn’s games are too predictable to watch:

The team’s coach quickly fired back.

“We do what we do,” said Geno Auriemma.

“When Tiger was winning every major, nobody said he was bad for golf. Actually, he did a lot for golf. He made everybody have to be a better golfer. And they did.”

The Outnumbered panel reacted today to the exchange.

“You don’t bring the champions down,” said Judge Alex Ferrer. “Everybody else has to step up their game.”

“Maybe the columnist should be a little more creative,” Julie Roginsky said. “Just because they’re not giving him the copy that he wants doesn’t make them lame. It makes him probably a bad columnist.”

But Katherine Timpf agreed with Shaughnessy. “I don’t think he was honestly telling them, ‘Do worse,’” she said.

“It’s not interesting to watch stuff when you know what’s going to happen.”
