Peters: Europe's Immigrant Slums Have Hardened Into 'Islamist Colonies'
Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) said today that Muslim neighborhoods in Europe are turning into "Islamist colonies" where many believe "the terrorists are the good guys."
He said that years ago, these neighborhoods - in France, Belgium and Germany - were more like "slums" for immigrants, but have now become hardened.
Peters noted that Paris terror suspect Salah Abdeslam - captured last week - was living openly for months in the Molenbeek area of Brussels, which has been dubbed by some as the "terror capital of Europe."
"He had been seen in barber shops, buying clothes and nobody turned him in. There is this sense that this is an Islamic world and the rest of you stay out and the terrorists are the good guys. That's what really should worry us," he said.
Peters noted that Belgian police can't even go on a raid between the hours of 9pm and 5am unless a crime is in progress.
He said that national governments, not the EU, must take the lead and start cooperating if anything is going to change.
