An Easter Bunny Brawled With Shoppers in the Middle of a NJ Mall

Police in Lancaster, Pennsylvania say a young man wielding a machete went on a robbing spree early on Tuesday.

But the story is making headlines for other reasons. Officials say the 19-year-old, who donned a lime green wig, black sunglasses, and white bandana, looked a lot like a leprechaun, according to local media.

Police have described him as a “leprechaun-looking male with a machete,” Lancaster Online reports.

They responded to several robbery calls that morning and later identified the suspect as Jaime A. Rodriguez, pictured above.

One store clerk gave the following account to investigators:

Rodriguez demanded money and then lifted up his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a machete or large knife.

The clerk told police Rodriguez stated, “I don’t want to have to kill you.”

When the employee told Rodriguez she couldn’t open the register unless he purchased something, he became frustrated and fled.

Rodriguez has been charged with robbery, theft and assault.
