National Guard troops responding to devastating flooding in East Texas this week helped families with the evacuation of some of their most beloved family members -- their pets.

The Texas Military Department posted on its Facebook page that Guardsmen rescued more than 60 household pets.

The department said that the majority of the pets were evacuated with their owners and released right back to them after being safely transported to dry ground.
