Donald Trump's dominance in the Republican presidential primary represents a "peaceful overthrow" of the government, according to Mike Huckabee.

"This is nothing less than somewhat of a revolution in American," Huckabee said on "Fox and Friends" this morning, pointing to the success of both Trump and Bernie Sanders.

He noted that Americans are supporting the candidates on both sides of the aisle who are calling for radical change.

"People want big change. They know this government has rigged the system against them," Huckabee explained.

He added that's why he sees the 2016 race as more of a "vertical election," as opposed to a "horizontal election," explaining that people are less concerned about left or right, liberal or conservative, and more concerned with bringing average Americans up or down.

"It's a disruptive election. But, you know, every now and then the country needs something that is utterly disruptive."
