'Ohio, I Love Ya': John Kasich Gives Victory Speech After Defeating Trump
John Kasich delivered remarks in Berea, Ohio tonight fresh off his win in the Buckeye State Republican primary.
Fox News projects that Kasich beat GOP front-runner Donald Trump in his first victory of his campaign, which many had considered critical at this stage in the race.
Speaking to supporters, Kasich first gave a shout-out to Marco Rubio, who just dropped out of the race, calling him a "very, very great, talented and fine United States senator."
The Ohio governor then went on to recount a touching story of his family's visit to a Cleveland restaurant earlier that night.
“We thought we could sneak in and kind of grab a quick meal. And as we walked through the restaurant, people started to cheer. My reaction – I said, ‘please don’t do that, because you’re going to make me cry,’” he said.
“To have people believe in you and to believe that you can bring people together and strengthen our country, I have to thank the people of the great state of Ohio, I love ya,” he said.
“It’s all I can say.”
