Marco Rubio's campaign slammed CNN for airing a "reckless" and "totally false" report that claimed Rubio's own advisers want him to drop out of the race even before next week's Florida primary.

Caitlin Conant, spokeswoman for Marco Rubio for President, said it was "completely reckless" for CNN to air the report without first calling the campaign to get a response.

She then ripped the Ted Cruz campaign for immediately spreading the report around because they're "scared" that Rubio will win Florida next week.

"We're not going anywhere," she said, arguing that the Cruz campaign is doing the same thing that it did to Ben Carson in Iowa.

Conant said that Rubio is confident he will win Florida and then do better than Cruz moving forward.

She said Cruz has outperformed Rubio in caucuses and rural states, but there are less of those in the coming weeks.
