Trump was scheduled to speak to the annual conservative gathering on Saturday morning.

Trump's campaign said he will be at a major rally in Wichita, Kansas on the day of the state's GOP caucus and hold a rally in Orlando.

"Mr. Trump would like to thank [American Conservative Union Chairman] Matt Schlapp and all of the executives at CPAC and looks forward to returning to next year, hopefully as President of the United States," the statement read.

The National Review had reported that some attendees were planning a walkout during Trump's address.
