On Special Report tonight, Charles Krauthammer said that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have to change their strategy if they want to have any hope of overtaking Donald Trump in the GOP nomination race.

"Obviously, if Cruz and Rubio continue what they're doing, they're going to lose," Krauthammer said. "If you look what happened in Nevada, Trump won everything."

Krauthammer said they need to find an "attack line" on Trump and suggested that maybe they should attack him on disclosing his tax returns, after 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney said there might be a "bombshell" hidden inside.

"You want to do a distraction," Krauthammer said. "I think you kind of go after him on the tax returns. I think Romney is onto something. I think it can be deflected, I'm not sure it'll be effective, but nothing else that has been tried is going to work."

He also said that both candidates need to win in their home state.

"If either loses their home state to Trump, they have to pull out," he said.
