Only a Bible Was Recovered After Driver Was Pulled from Burning Car

A robber who tried to mug an elderly British woman in a wheelchair probably didn’t realize what she was getting herself into.

That’s because 76-year-old Betty Jeffery used to be a national arm wrestling champ in England.

The disabled woman has done competitive sports for 45 years.

Jeffery told the BBC that she’d been on her way to a funeral in Essex when an unknown woman suddenly stared her down in an alleyway and tried to grab her purse.

“I’ll never forget that face. I just hit it,” she recounted.  “I had to stop her.”

Jeffery punched her on the nose.

“I love sports and I love a challenge. And she was a challenge,” she said with a chuckle.

Luckily, two passersby happened to spot the tussle – and also stepped in to help.
