Veteran NFL defensive lineman Jared Allen has long been among football's funniest and most entertaining personalities.

It's fitting, then, that Allen would have one of the coolest, most unique retirement announcements of all time.

Allen, who played with the Carolina Panthers this past season after stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, posted a video to Twitter announcing that his NFL career is coming to an end after 12 seasons.

"Well, everyone, I just want to say thank you for an amazing 12-year career," Allen says from atop a horse. "This was the part where I was gonna ride off into the sunset, but seeing how there's no sunset, I’m just going to ride off."

He then turns and gallops away.

The fan-favorite is retiring with 136 career sacks, tied for ninth in NFL history.
