As pitchers and catchers gear up for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ spring training this year, fans have also been turning up in droves to belt out “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

This season, the Pirates will select as many as 10 new amateur singers to perform before the spring training games, Fox News’ Steve Harrigan reported.

Harrigan caught up with some of those auditioning to find out what the spotlight would mean to them.

One little girl with an adorable bow tied to her hair took the field in the video above.

“I’m proud of being American, and I really wanted to sing it,” she told Harrigan.

Korean War veteran Barry Yoder also stunned viewers with his rousing rendition.

To him, the song is much more than just a show.

“It’s not a performance,” he said. “It’s a tribute to the flag.”
