Report: A TN Doctor Mistakenly Operated on the Wrong Baby

An investigation is underway after a California homeowner fatally shot a man who was attempting to force his way into the resident's home, according to authorities.

Shortly after 5 a.m., a woman called police and reported that her husband had opened fire on a man who was trying to forcibly enter their home in Ontario, near Los Angeles, police said in a statement.

Officer Jorge Ramirez said the shooting occurred after a brief struggle between the male homeowner and the would-be burglar.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a 26-year-old man deceased in the entryway of the residence.

The name of the suspect, a Los Angeles resident, was not immediately released, pending notification of family.

The shooter was not taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
