Eighteen-year-old Monntel West says he’s never had a single piano lesson.

Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve now watched this teenager’s incredible piano performance from across the country, which the high school senior casually gave one day at a mall in Lansing, Michigan.

Sara Hadley, who was at the mall when Monntel sat down, captured the above performance on cell phone video for the world to see.

Monntel spoke to local media after the video went viral, saying that he was just killing time before meeting up with a friend and doesn’t even own a piano.

But when he played Yiruma’s “River Flows In You,” people all around Monntel were captivated, and “all of a sudden … started surrounding me,” he told the Lansing State Journal.

“I had goosebumps,” said Hadley.

“It was just amazing, and I figured he just deserved some sort of recognition.”
