When Virginia firefighters arrived at the scene of a small garage fire yesterday, they didn’t know they’d soon also be coming to the rescue of adorable puppies.
The Henrico County Division of Fire detailed the story on Facebook yesterday, writing that crews after putting out the fire “noticed a small puppy in a pen near the door.”
Officers immediately gave that dog to EMTs for treatment with a special pet oxygen mask, they said.

Not long after, however, they discovered a second and third puppy.
“Each of them was having significant difficulty breathing,” said authorities.
Though the dogs seemed to be making some headway, the county’s Animal Protection Officer was busy attending to other calls, and firefighters grew concerned “they were still in bad shape.”
After speaking to animal emergency officials, rescuers were able to rush the puppies to hospital while attending to them in a Chiefs vehicle, said the fire department.

An update on the puppies from yesterday's garage fire. Two of the puppies are back at home. Both are eating well and staying warm. Sadly the sickest of the three passed away last night.
