Cell phones are often blamed for distracting drivers and causing accidents on the road.

But this man who was pulled over in Minnesota caught police officers by surprise.

Dashcam video that aired on The Real Story Thursday showed that the driver was distracted not by a screen – but by a book.

“You’re reading, why are you doing that?!” the officer is heard asking incredulously.

“I don’t know,” the man replies.

The officer can’t seem to help but ask. “What are you reading?”

“I’ve got a James Patterson book,” the man answers.

The driver was ultimately handed a ticket.

Despite the amusement, police would like to remind motorists that it can just take two seconds of glancing down to cause a major accident on the road.
