A New Jersey ambulance squad member and public servant died of a heart attack hours after responding to a car crash involving his own daughter.

49-year-old Captain Eskil "Scott" Danielson, who also was a councilman, was dispatched with his squad to the crash in Andover Borough on Saturday.

He soon realized that his 19-year-old daughter, Alycia, was one of the crash victims. He helped treat her and someone who was in another vehicle involved in the crash.

Danielson then went to the hospital to check on his daughter and had a massive heart attack in the waiting room. He died about four hours later.

His daughter was treated and released from the hospital.

"He was pursuing the biggest passion of his life in helping others, and unfortunately, succumbed to it," his brother said.

The Washington Township PD is remember him as "an invaluable asset" to Warren County who "always put the public's safety first."
