Trump Goes After Cruz: 'Everybody Hates Him, He Won't Get Any Deals Done'

Judge Jeanine Slams GOP Establishment for Subverting Trump: 'Support Your Frontrunner!'

A retired NYPD officer and 9/11 widower hit back at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his recent remarks about "New York values," calling them disheartening and divisive.

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Cruz doubled down on his criticism of Donald Trump's "New York values," which drew a sharp rebuke from Trump at last week's GOP debate.

"That formulation didn't come from me. It came from Donald Trump. Donald Trump, when he was being interviewed by Tim Russert, when he was explaining his views a number of years ago," Cruz said.

Cruz has argued that Trump and others from New York City do not share the same conservative values as Iowans.

Speaking to Ashley Webster on Fox Business Network, former NYPD officer James Smith followed up on his recent Facebook post in which he invited Cruz to visit the 9/11 Memorial and "see for yourself, and perhaps learn something about, the values of New Yorkers."

Smith's wife, Moira, was the only female NYPD officer killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11.

He said he believes Cruz's comments are "divisive" and that America needs the next president to bring the country together.

"We all believe in the same things. We all want the same things for our kids," said Smith.

Smith disputed that New Yorkers have values that are any different from anywhere else.

"Maybe we do things a little differently here, maybe we're a little more tolerant, but our values are the same. It was disheartening to see," said Smith.
