Police in Florence, Italy are searching for a murder suspect after an American woman was mysteriously found dead with cuts and bruises on her body.

Ashley Olsen’s body was found in her apartment by her boyfriend after she reportedly stopped responding to messages.

The 35-year-old artist was found naked, with scratches and bruises to her neck.

Although there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment, investigators say that the initial examination indicates Olsen was strangled and may have tried to fight back.

They have declined to confirm the cause of death until the autopsy is complete.

But while authorities pore over surveillance footage near Olsen’s apartment, potential clues have emerged on social media, Trace Gallagher reports.

Photos she posted on Instagram in the months before her death suggest she may have thought she was being stalked, with captions including hashtags like “#Ihaveastalker, #stalkeralert and #creeperpic.”

It is unclear whether she was joking in making those references. But police say they are now scanning her online footprint for anything suspicious.

Meanwhile, Olsen’s boyfriend has admitted they were fighting in the days before her death. So far, however, he has not been named a suspect.
