Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been recaptured, "Happening Now" just reported.

"Mission accomplished: We have him. I want to inform the Mexicans that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been detained," Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced in a tweet.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has also confirmed the arrest.

Guzman had been on the loose since an amazing escape, using an underground tunnel, from a Mexican prison in July.

Guzman was captured in Los Mochis, in northern Sinaloa, William La Jeunesse reported.

Guzman, 58, heads the powerful Sinaloa cartel and spent 12 years as a fugitive previously after breaking out of jail in 2001.

He was captured in 2014.
