Hollywood star and outspoken libertarian Kurt Russell says gun owners should hold on tight.

In an interview with Daily Mail on his long career in film and new movie "The Hateful Eight," the 64-year-old said he believes "in the right to bear arms, as guaranteed under the Second Amendment of the American Constitution."

He said that in the wake of the deadly terror attacks in San Bernardino, "people need to understand" that "now is not a good time to lay down your weapons -- how will you protect yourself?"

Russell also said: "I am a libertarian, a hardcore one, and of course I have guns. I shoot things with them. I hunt game."
