Cruz Fires Back at Rubio: On Amnesty, 'He Stands With Obama'
Ted Cruz hit back at his Senate colleague, Marco Rubio, again on the issue of illegal immigration and supporting amnesty.
The two have been in a war of words since last week's debate, with Rubio arguing that Cruz has supported a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the U.S.
Cruz said on "Hannity" that he believes Rubio, whom he called a "friend" and a "good guy," is stepping up his attacks because their campaigns are heading in opposite directions.
He added that Rubio and Jeb Bush have the same record of supporting amnesty, commending Bush for being "candid" about his views, while Rubio tries to "run away from his long support for amnesty."
Cruz, who has been atop the most recent polls in Iowa, said that numerous people have called out Rubio for not telling the truth about his record on immigration.
"His record and mine are very, very different and anyone paying the least bit of attention can see that when it comes to amnesty and illegal immigration generally, we are on opposite sides of the fence. He stands with Chuck Schumer and Barack Obama, I stand with Jeff Sessions and Steve King and the American people," said Cruz.
