A posh New York City mall's decision to boot Santa Claus from a prime location to a sterile, barren room was just plain wrong, Greta Van Susteren said in her "Off the Record" commentary tonight.

Greta explained that the Winter Garden, where the Brookfield Place mall Santa previously held court, is now dominated by a high-tech art installation called "Luminaries."

Santa's new, "prison-like" area featured no Christmas decorations, which Greta said was not very jolly on the part of the mall.

"But alas, this mall was no match for the mothers, grizzly mamas. They rallied for Santa, and good for them!" Greta said, revealing that mall management reversed course and said that Santa's new space will get a festive, holiday makeover.

"But you have to ask: What numskull thought this was a good idea in the first place, messing with Santa and kids? That is pretty low and, yes, pretty dumb."
