'Bitterness Would Destroy My Soul': Indiana Pastor Explains Why He Forgives Wife's Killers
Indiana pastor Davey Blackburn said practicing the act of forgiveness every day can be the only way forward following the murder of his pregnant wife earlier this month.
He spoke on "Fox & Friends" as two men arrested in connection with Amanda Grace Blackburn's death appeared in court to face murder charges.
Blackburn said that the family is feeling rage, loneliness and confusion, but that they're choosing forgiveness, which he said is a "daily decision."
"If you wait to feel like you're ready to forgive, then you're never really going to be able to forgive," Blackburn said.
"We're going to have to wake up every single day and face that decision over and over and over for the rest of our lives."
He said that "going down the path of bitterness" would "destroy my soul and it will destroy everybody around me."
"So today, I choose forgiveness, and I pray that tomorrow I can wake up and choose forgiveness by the power of Jesus Christ."
