VIDEO: Gunfire Heard as Massive Paris Raid Targets Terror Mastermind
Two suspects were killed and seven more arrested.
A massive anti-terror operation at an apartment building in the Paris suburb of St. Denis targeted the mastermind behind Friday’s terror attacks, Abdelhamid Abaooud, early Wednesday.
At least two people have died, including a woman who blew herself up with a suicide vest, and seven others were arrested during the raid, according to French officials.
Witnesses to Wednesday's raid described hearing a series of explosions and sporadic gunfire which went on for several hours.
Many posted the sounds of gunfire on Twitter and Facebook.
One local resident posted a 10-second video of the scene on her street near the siege. A series of bangs sounding like automatic weapons fire could be heard. The message accompanying the tweet translates to "It's an intervention by police ... street closed, officers, etc."

French officials said the target of Wednesday's raid was Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected mastermind of Friday's attacks that left 129 dead and hundreds injured.
But it was unclear if Abaaoud, a 27-year-old Belgian man who was previously believed to have possibly plotted the attack from Syria, was in the apartment.
