Fox News contributor Lt. Col. Allen West said on "Fox and Friends" that the United States should not accept any military-age men among the Syrian refugees.

West was asked for his reaction after White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said on Fox News Sunday that there is a "robust vetting procedure" in place.

Rhodes said there would be no change in the plan to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees into the U.S.

"Anyone from about 16 to 40 years of age, single males, should not be allowed to come in. That's a Trojan horse," West responded.

West said it's "silly" to let people travel to a combat zone (Syria) and then return with their American or European passport.

He also slammed the three Democratic presidential candidates, saying "they're not ready to lead" right now.

West called out Martin O'Malley for calling for the U.S. to commit to accepting even more Syrian refugees, and highlighted the fact that Bernie Sanders still insists climate change is the greatest threat to America.
