A South Carolina teenager shot and killed a burglar with his mother's gun.

He was home alone when 31-year-old suspect Lamar Brown tried to break into the Charleston County home.

The 13-year-old said he heard a vehicle pull up behind his house, then heard someone trying get inside a few minutes later.

At that point, the teen picked up his mother's Colt .45 and went to the back door of the home.

Authorities said the boy told them he fired the gun through the door and the person outside fired back.

The boy fired more shots, apparently wounding the suspect.

According to Fox Carolina, the boy fired several more shots as their car sped away.

Brown died in the hospital from three gunshot wounds. The driver was arrested.
