A North Carolina mall outraged locals after it replaced its traditional Christmas tree with -- wait for it -- a glacier.

The SouthPark Mall of Charlotte said it wanted to make visiting Santa appear "fresh and exciting."

“The reinvented and modernized experience will bring the Charlotte community together in a way that hasn’t been done before,” the mall told the Charlotte Observer.

But the change caused confusion and outrage among consumers, prompting a Change.org petition to re-implement a tree, which collected more than 20,000 signatures.

It even inspired a satirical song.

The mall has complied with the demand and put back the tree, citing "customer feedback."

The Christmas tree drama comes as a Long Island mall did the exact same thing, saying it didn't want to "offend" anyone.
