A 9-year-old boy in Ohio has died after mysteriously collapsing at football practice Monday night.

Wyatt Barber had just finished a 50-yard sprint when he went to get a drink, Heather Nauert reported this morning on Fox and Friends.

The third grader was sitting on his helmet and taking a drink when he suddenly fell over.

While the cause of little Wyatt’s death is still unknown, “the football program at Eastern [Elementary School] is heartbroken,” one mother of another football player wrote online.

“He was our smallest Eagle on the sidelines on a Friday Night with our Varsity Eagles! Our #56 will forever be missed! Fly High Little buddy, WE LOVE YOU.”

So far, seven high school players have died this football season, either during or shortly after a game, said Nauert.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for funeral costs. As of Wednesday morning, more than $6,000 of the $15,000 goal had been raised.
