Noonan, former speech writer for President Reagan and author of the new book "The Time of Our Lives," said that America is a great project, and as it goes through rocky times, we should be protective of it.

"We all love America, but sometimes I think we ought to point out why a little bit more," Noonan said.

As for the message of her new book, Noonan said she wanted to impress upon young people the importance of being a good person.

"Being a good person is so much more important than the other stuff you're being trained to do."
