NBC executives are becoming worried about "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon's partying and excessive drinking, the New York Post reported

Fallon has been a ratings hit for the iconic late-night program, but he has suffered a rash of injuries in recent months.

A week ago, 41-year-old Fallon needed stitches on his hand after falling and dropping a bottle of liquor at a party near Harvard.

The stumble was caught on a cell phone video and posted on Instagram.

According to the report, concerns about Fallon have gone from "whispers" to "chatter."

The Post reports:

An inside source says that before August’s annual Apollo in the Hamptons summer benefit, which is held at Ronald Perelman’s 57-acre East Hampton estate, Fallon was drinking heavily and “doing shots.”

“He’s a mess,” says a Manhattan bartender who has served the host over the years, adding, “I love him.”

She recalls a time around 2009 when a happily wasted Fallon, then the newly tapped host of “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” played beer pong with the staff at the now-closed Whiskey River in Union Square until 5:30 a.m., before continuing the party upstairs at the bar’s private apartment.

“Everything you’ve heard [about his behavior] is true,” she says.

Another insider downplayed the concerns, however, saying Fallon is viewed as a "big kid" at the network.

In a statement, an NBC spokeswoman called Fallon “a highly valued member of the NBC family who is both a tireless worker and an extraordinarily gifted performer," adding that Fallon's dedication to the show is "unparalleled."
