Krauthammer Reacts to GOP Debate Demands: 'Kind of Pointless'
A private meeting over the weekend involving most of the Republican presidential campaigns resulted in a list of demands for future primary debates – ranging from assurances that candidates be allowed opening and closing statements, to a pledge not to conduct "lightning rounds."
Donald Trump and his advisers, however, have decided to work directly with the networks and take a lead role in negotiating the format and content of debates.
Charles Krauthammer said on "Special Report" tonight that the Republican candidates should quit while they're ahead.
He said "the debate about the debate" is over, and the GOP won.
Krauthammer explained that the consensus was that the third debate was an awful event run by disrespectful, useless moderators.
"The GOP won and actually came out of the debate looking good as a group," Krauthammer said. "At this point, I think, to continue to beat the horse is kind of pointless."
"The graphics and the temperature in the room is important, but it isn't the main issue. The main issue is debating the ideas."
