Police said Thursday that they had arrested two known associates of a Kentucky fugitive who has eluded a multi-state manhunt for five days.

Floyd Ray Cook, a 62-year-old convicted rapist and robber, has been on the run since Saturday afternoon, when he allegedly shot and wounded a Tennessee police officer.

Jonathan Serrie reported on "Shepard Smith Reporting" that 35-year-old Katy McCarty and 50-year-old Troy Wayne, associates of Cook with lengthy criminal histories of their own, were arrested after fleeing from police at a gas station in White House, Tennessee.

After crashing their vehicle, they fled on foot and were eventually apprehended in the surrounding cornfields.

Serrie said authorities are hopeful that McCarty and Wayne can help lead them to Cook in the near future.
