Mary Katharine Ham joined Greta Van Susteren for her first interview since the tragic death of her husband, Jake Brewer, in a biking accident last month.

Brewer, who was a senior policy adviser in the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the White House, was participating in a bike ride for a cancer charity in Howard County, Maryland, on September 19 when he lost control on a sharp curve and was struck by a vehicle.

Mary Katharine, who is eight months pregnant with her second child, told Greta that it's been incredibly difficult and sad, but she knows that Jake would have wanted her to continue putting one foot in front of the other.

"It is an impossibly, irreparably sad thing that happened to us, but I am not an impossibly, irreparably sad person. And my children will not be, and our family will not be," Mary Katharine said. "He would want us to live bravely. And he would want us to have fun."

"And I will probably always think that the world is a little less fun and beautiful because he's not here. But he would say it's my job to get off my butt and make it fun and beautiful."
