On "Fox News Sunday," Chris Wallace and Donald Trump sat down for the first time since the Fox News debate to discuss a wide variety of topics, including Trump's most recent controversy.

Wallace asked Trump about comments he made Friday in an interview with Bloomberg Television, which have stirred debate.

"When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said to anchor Stephanie Ruhle. "He was president, OK? Don't blame him, or don't blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign."

Jeb Bush quickly defended his brother on Twitter:

Wallace asked Trump directly, "Do you blame George W. Bush for 9/11?"

Trump said he's not blaming anybody, but the Twin Towers did come down during Bush's presidency, so any claim that Bush kept the country safe is not true.

What would you have done? Wallace asked.

"I would have been much different," Trump said. "I am extremely, extremely tough on illegal immigration. I’m extremely tough on people coming into this country. I believe that if I were running things, I doubt those families would have – I doubt that those people would have been in the country."

"With that being said, I’m not blaming George Bush. But I don’t want Jeb Bush to say, "My brother kept us safe," because September 11 was one of the worst days in the history of this country."
