Here's a reminder that it's never a bad idea to take a glance at your restaurant order before you dig in.

An Oregon man says he found a dead rodent in his Subway sandwich, ABC News reported.

The incident happened in Lincoln City on Oct. 6 when Matt Jones and a co-worker went in for lunch.

Jones said that "thankfully" his friend saw what appeared to be a mouse before he started to eat his Italian sandwich with meat, spinach, tomato and cheese.

Subway said in a statement that it investigated and that the county Health Department was immediately notified.

"To be cautious, all of the products in the sandwich unit were disposed of and a thorough cleaning took place, in which the Health Department gave the restaurant a clean bill of health. There were no other complaints made and this was an isolated incident," the company said.

It's believed the dead rodent came from one of the bagged products that the restaurant used to make the sandwich.

The store quickly issued refunds to Jones and his co-worker.
