Parents at a Washington, D.C. elementary school are up in arms over a video that shows children scrubbing a cafeteria floor, allegedly as punishment for a food fight.

One parent told Fox 5 DC that the third-grade teacher who ordered the cleaning has crossed the line in the past, including hitting and pinching students, denying them lunch, and trying to bribe them with pizza and ice cream so they wouldn't complain to their parents.

The release of the two-year-old video has prompted parents to demand the school take action against the teacher.

One mother said seeing the video removed doubts she'd had about her daughter's stories about the John Tyler Elementary School teacher's abusive form of discipline.

“How would you feel if someone did this to your child?” the mother asked. “If your child was on all fours scrubbing the floor? If your child didn't eat lunch? If your child was pinched or your child was hit?"

The D.C. public school district responded by saying, “We have initiated school-level discussions on appropriate measures for students cleaning up after messes, including the use of proper cleaning supplies. We take these allegations very seriously, and we will look into them.”
