GOOD NEWS 'Blue Lives Matter' Billboards Are Coming to a City Near You
A line of pro-police billboards with the message “Blue Lives Matter” are springing up across America.
A Fox affiliate reported that Memphis-based advertising firm Tactical Magic created the first sign to honor local police officers.
Louisiana-based billboard advertising company Lamar liked the message so much it donated 150 billboards around the country to the campaign. They’ll run through the end of the month.
The navy blue signs have been spotted in Michigan, Georgia, Oregon and Ohio, with seven billboards reported in the Toledo area alone.
The signs sport the hashtag #thankublu, which is also the name of an Instagram account that features photos of the signs.
The account’s bio says “Our only purpose is to thank and support the men and women in law enforcement that put their lives on the line for our safety every day.”
But some people, like community leader Darel Ross, are questioning the intent behind the campaign, which borrows its phrasing from Black Lives Matter.
“I think in some aspects it’s shameful that the brand is being co-opted, but once again it was never meant to say ‘only black lives matter,'” Ross said.
