Va. Students Suspended for Wearing Confederate Flag Apparel
Students at a Virginia high school were suspended this week after protesting a ban on Confederate flags.
Christiansburg High School prohibits Confederate flag symbols on clothes and vehicles on school property.
More than 20 students were slapped with in-school suspension for refusing to take off clothes that displayed the controversial flag, arguing that it represents their heritage.
Of those students, 15 were sent home for the day, and two were suspended for multiple days after they continued to be disruptive.
“We are gonna fly our Confederate flags high, and it will keep going on until we get what we want back,” sophomore Dalton Ready said.
