President Barack Obama today praised the three Americans who foiled an attack on a high-speed train in France.

Obama met with Air Force serviceman Spencer Stone, Sacramento State University senior Anthony Sadler and National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, who worked together to take down a gunman on a train traveling between Amsterdam and Paris.

Obama said that the three heroes stopped a potentially catastrophic situation.

“Because of their courage, because of their quick thinking, because of their teamwork, it’s fair to say that a lot of people were saved and a real calamity was averted,” Obama said.

He thanked the three men for saving lives and “making America look so good.”

“They represent the very best of America, American character,” Obama said.
