A Pennsylvania cat used one of his nine lives to save a 3-year-old boy, according to his owner.

Angelica Sipe says that her cat Opie saved her son Daemire by taking a stray bullet that came through the window of their York home.

“The first thing I did was check on my son and he was sound asleep,” Sipe said. “Then I saw my cat on the floor and that's when I realized my cat was shot.”

The bullet went through Opie’s head, neck and shoulder, then ricocheted and lodged itself in a pillow, missing Daemire by inches.

Opie underwent surgery and is expected to be OK.

“He was my son's little hero, so I need to keep him around,” Sipe said.
