Could Guantanamo Bay detainees be transferred to military sites within the United States?

Pentagon officials are visiting a Naval Brig near Charleston, S.C. to determine whether it would be a good place to relocate detainees. Officials also looked at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas as another possible site.

For years, President Barack Obama has vowed to close the controversial detention center.

Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. said that transferring the detainees to the U.S. is not legal, but he speculated that the administration would try to find a way around that.

He said that Americans must write to their lawmakers and speak up to protest the relocation of Gitmo detainees.
