CA Woman Reported Missing After Helping Homeless Parolee
UPDATE: Investigators say Ghilardi left the area voluntarily and has been located, KTLA reported.
A California mom vanished after she told a friend that she was going to take a homeless parolee to see his parole officer, her family says.
Kristin Whitney Ghilardi, 29, volunteers to help the homeless through a church program. She told her friend that she was going to drive a homeless man named Patrick to see his parole officer on Aug. 26. Her family called police when she didn’t pick up her 10-year-old from school later that day.
The Costco manager's family has since been unable to contact her on her cellphone — a circumstance that her brother, Anthony Ghilardi, described as unusual.
"She's a mom first and foremost. She doesn't go a day without talking to her son before he goes to bed," he said. "For her to be … four or five days now since anyone's seen or heard from her — that's not her. She wouldn't do that."
Ghilardi is 5-foot-6 and about 140 pounds with a shaved head and brown eyes. Her car is described as a grey 2006 Toyota Corolla with the license plate 5VLM990.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call police at 661-255-1121.
