Police say a Louisiana police officer was killed by his own cousin when he responded to a domestic dispute.

Authorities say that 35-year-old Harrison Lee Riley Jr. stabbed three women, injuring two and killing 40-year-old Shameka Johnson.

They say Riley killed his cousin, officer Henry Nelson, with Nelson’s own gun when he responded to the dispute.

Riley then fled and crashed into a convenience store before barricading himself in the mini mart's office for hours, cops say. He was finally apprehended after a SWAT team used tear gas on the suspect.

Sunset Police Chief Luis Padilla said Nelson’s death came one day before he was set to take a month off from work to spend time with his teen daughter.

Nelson is the second Louisiana police officer to be killed in four days.
